Abstract
Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the school-based post-intervention program (hereinafter referred to be as ¡®Comforting with Hope¡¯) in relieving traumatic stresses for the high-school students, who had experienced suicide attempts, among 14 Seoul Mental Health School Programs.

Methods : For students¡¯ suicide attempts, which had occurred from January of 2016 to November of 2016, 9 schools (2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 6 high schools) applied for the program called ¡®Comforting with Hope¡¯ for proper intervention, and the program had been applied on 175 students in total. Among those, this study results were obtained from 36 students at 2 high schools by measuring the degrees of changes in their traumatic stress levels through the preliminary evaluation and the post evaluation. The Korean-version of the Impact of Event Scale, which was developed and revised by Eun Heonjeong et al. (IES-revised-K in 2005), was used as the evaluation tool. The lower factors of the evaluation tool consist of 8 avoidance-related questions, 7 intrusion-related questions, and 7 hyper-arousal-related questions. A paired sample T test was conducted through SPSS 18.0 in order to verify the changes before and after the Korean-version of the Impact of Event Scale.

Results : The effects of participating in the program called ¡®Comforting with Hope¡¯ among the high-school students, who had experienced suicide attempts, are proved to be statistically significant (p<.001). It implies that the program called ¡®Comforting with Hope¡¯ has positive effects on high-school students in reducing their traumatic stresses after suicide attempts. Not only that, across all the lower factor areas, such as avoidance (p<.001), intrusion (p<.001), and hyper-arousal (p<.001), the program is proved to have statistically significant impacts on students.

Conclusion : Among the Seoul Mental Health School Programs developed by the Seoul Mental Health Center, the school-based post-intervention program, which is called ¡®Comforting with Hope¡¯, is proved to be statistically significant in mitigating the traumatic stress levels, which are subjectively felt by students after suicide attempts. In addition, it is especially meaningful, as it prevents any suicide imitation or copycat, properly intervenes by finding out any students in the high-risk group, and normalizes the functions of the school community.
